Welcome to the Stanford NIH Graduate Training Program in Biotechnology. Our NIH predoctoral training program began in July, 1991 and is now funded to June of 2014. We provide a multi-disciplinary educational experience in biotechnology that includes regular trainee meetings, breadth courses, field trips, a newsletter, industrial affiliates and trainee internships. Over 39 faculty in 13 departments and 3 schools directly participate in the program. With the active input of a five member steering committee the program is lead by James Swartz, Chemical Engineering, with the assistance of co-directors Professor Sarah Heilshorn, Material Science and Engineering, and Dana Andersen, Senior Director, Genentech/Roche.
